The Low-Cost Insulin Pump is a smart solution designed by students to address the need for an affordable and user-friendly insulin delivery device. Current market solutions are expensive, making diabetes management inaccessible for many — especially children and the elderly.
The device is built using microcontroller technology, a servo-driven mechanism for dose control, and a mobile app for real-time operation. It delivers insulin through two key options: Basal (continuous low doses) and Bolus (extra doses after meals).
The prototype allows wireless operation, and can be set to deliver pre-programmed insulin doses based on time or doctor’s input. A small tubing system connects the insulin reservoir to the user’s body, needing changes only once in 14 days.
The prototype has successfully demonstrated insulin delivery in a lab environment. It significantly reduces pain and stress, allowing safe and smart diabetes management from a mobile phone.
This project offers a promising future for low-cost, automated insulin delivery. It enhances comfort, independence, and accessibility for patients with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes.

Jayne is the visionary leader of Novotech. With a passion for innovation and leadership, she has been actively engaged in technology projects since the 6th grade. She has spearheaded multiple award-winning innovations.
Iniya brings deep expertise in electronics and embedded systems. Like Jayne, she began working on hardware and coding projects from grade 6, and has co-developed multiple impactful solutions for society.
Varsha leads the creative front of Novotech. Her keen eye for aesthetics and design ensures that every prototype and presentation is professional, attractive, and user-friendly.
Nisha focuses on the hands-on aspects of the projects. From prototyping to final product assembly, she ensures quality and precision at every stage of manufacturing.
Disha is responsible for budgeting, planning, and managing the financial aspects of all projects and events. Her strategic approach ensures every innovation stays sustainable and scalable.
Nithila is the voice of Novotech. She leads branding, public relations, and promotional campaigns, helping take their innovations to schools, competitions, and the broader community.
